ABOUT

HOW IT STARTED

The desire to express myself and share my thoughts, feelings and ideas has always been the driving force behind my creative work. With close ties to Cologne’s vibrant music and art scene, I came up with the idea for an art and design platform at the turn of the millennium. With the support of like-minded artists, photographers and writers, I published the critically acclaimed online magazine Aroma for several years.

The introduction of new technologies, a positive outlook on the future and the subsequent spirit of optimism resulted in an environment characterized by courage, innovative thinking and experimental freedom. I participated in multimedia experiments at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM). Additionally, I experimented with interactive online streaming formats and had the opportunity to contribute to PopOnline, an online initiative of the international music and entertainment fair Popkomm that serves as a platform for the music industry.

Around the same time, I started working full-time as a graphic designer for Groove Attack. The Cologne-based label and distribution company has been a leading authority in hip-hop, rap, soul, Afro and funk, as well as various types of electronic music. I was there when hip-hop burst onto the German scene, and I witnessed the success of labels such as Aggro Berlin, Royal Bunker and Optik Records. In the early 2010s, I moved to Berlin. Through my work with Groove Attack, Rough Trade Distribution, and Believe, I created campaigns for some of today’s most successful artists, including CRO, RAF Camora, Milky Chance, Placebo, and Grammy Award winners Sly & Robbie.
